Why Use Natural Soap Bars?

There are many misconceptions about handmade soaps.  Some believe that commercial soaps are better because they are sold in stores or because they have a particular brand name.  However, many of those products are actually detergents , not soaps.  Here are some truths about mass produced soaps and the benefits of natural soaps.

1. Commercial soaps and body washes are produced in bulk; therefore they contain chemicals and stabilizers to extend their shelf life.

2.  The ingredients of commercial soaps tend to strip the skin of natural oils and moisture which may lead to irritated skin and conditions like eczema.

3.  In addition, in order to enhance their scents, they rely on chemical fragrances and additives, ingredients that can irritate the skin even more.

How are natural soap bars different?

1.  Body washes are 97% water.  Soap bars are solid which makes them perfect for travel. Of course, they are used for bathing, but they are also great as shampoos and for shaving.  Not only are you getting more product for your money, but you won't be required to discard your bar of soap because it exceeds the 3 oz. limit of airport security.

2.  Soap bars are aromatherapy.  The essential oils and herbs used to fragrance them are natural.  Imagine the scent of citrus as you shower or the sinus-clearing steam of eucalyptus. There is an essential oil or combination that can provide whatever you need whether it is relaxation, invigoration, or stress relief. These ingredients come from the earth and will not cause harm to the environment when they return to the earth through our water systems.

3. The key ingredients of natural bar soaps are goats' milk, shea butter, coconut oil, and other natural oils which provide natural moisture.  Many commercial brands have recognized the strength of these ingredients and are adding trace amounts to their recipes.  These are the base of most natural soaps.

As you can see, the benefits of natural soap bars are many for consumers, the

environment, and small business owners.

How it started...

During the pandemic, many of us engaged in projects and activities to calm our minds and fill the time when we could not be connected with our loved ones.  For me, I started making jewelry.  I quickly discovered that I enjoyed creating jewelry just as much as I enjoyed wearing it!  Soon, I had many more pieces than I could ever wear!  My friends suggested that I should sell my jewelry at pop-ups, and that was the beginning of TessXOcreations.
